The Third Eye

You've heard of having a sixth sense, but you also may have a third eye. Eastern religions sometimes portray people with an eye in the middle of their forehead. Turns out, thay's located in about the same spot as the pineal gland in your brain. The pineal gland actually senses light the way your eyes would. Some animals can change their skin color when they sense different light -- even if their eyes are closed, because the pineal gland actually "sees" the light. In humans, the pineal gland may work the same way. (One interesting note: if you remove the pineal gland in rats, they then have an adversity to alcohol - and that may become a breakthrough that helps humans deal with addiction and control cravings.)
